Mainly because every serious music collection should have a copy. This is one of the greatest albums of all time and it's a shame that it has such a poor rerelease.

I have always been a fan of the Beach Boys...saw them 3 times in 60s, then when they recorded Fun,Fun,Fun, with Status Quo in 90s and finally at Hyde Park in 2001 again with SQ.....But when my daughter gave me the Platinum Collection as a xmas present couple of years back...it whetted my appetite again....I started with Dennis Wilson POB....I can't begin to describe the how it made me feel....so raw, heartfelt and pure genius, so I moved onto Pet Sounds....it brought back so many memories of my teen years...an excellent album from another genius....I also ordered BB party!

Data Correct I'd never really rated the Beach Boys, seeing them as 'fluffy pop' but on reading about how this album was a trendsetter for many groups to come, I gave it a try and have been proved wrong in my opinion of them.Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 22, 2009

Please try againSorry, we failed to record your vote. The multi layers of music and vocals is astounding .

My copy also has the defect on "Wouldn't it be Nice". Pet Sounds is an album of magnificent, instant pleasures: rhapsodic falsettos, deep melodies elated by strings and brass, blips of bike horns and barking dogs.

A very controversial song when it was first released.

I tried warm water with label savers, but the issue persists. The music of course is classic, but the 2016 pressings of the 50th anniversary Stereo and Mono LPs on the UMe label are terrible.

I did not read reviews in advance and wish I had. To modern ears, this may sound muddy and require an adjustment in your expectations, but as you'll discover if you go down the rabbit hole of mono vs. stereo, mono is Brian Wilson's original vision of the album.

I have listened to Pet Sounds countless times and I never tire of the beautiful music.

The tunes are such that you can't get them out of your head. Normally I would choose mono over stereo for 60s album but this mix was supervised by Brian Wilson. 13 tracks (36:05). Is this mastered by Kevin Gray and if so is it mastered with an all analogue chain? Please try againSorry, we failed to record your vote.

Sgt. Please try againSorry, we failed to record your vote.

Complete Albums Collection (5CD) If anything the rear channels are slightly overused, but the mix does allow vocals to be heard that were otherwised lost in the original and re-mastered stereo mixes.
This may just be the greatest LP ever recorded !
